BRICS Under NaMo Leadership: World Unites in India — Inside the 18th BRICS Summit 2026, New Delhi

The 18th BRICS Summit at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi has placed Narendra Modi firmly among the world’s most trusted global leaders. In this special episode of The JC Show, Dr. Jagdish Chandra breaks down every major moment, deal, and diplomatic win from India’s landmark BRICS presidency — and what it signals about India’s growing weight on the world stage.

The episode opens with one of the most widely shared images of the summit — Prime Minister Modi, Chinese President Xi Jinping, and Russian President Vladimir Putin walking hand-in-hand at Bharat Mandapam. Dr. Chandra unpacks the significance of this moment, alongside the summit’s central outcome: the New Delhi Declaration, adopted unanimously by all BRICS member nations despite sharp differences on several global issues. The discussion explores why diplomatic observers are calling PM Modi the “Man of the Match” of BRICS Summit 2026, having steered the bloc toward consensus on subjects ranging from terrorism to West Asia.

The episode also examines the economic dimension of the summit — BRICS’ continued push toward local-currency trade and reduced dependence on the US dollar, and what this shift could mean for India’s own economic positioning. Beyond policy, the conversation touches on PM Modi’s role as host: the cultural diplomacy on display through gifts of Bihar’s sattu and makhana, Odisha coffee, and Moradabad brassware presented to visiting world leaders — small gestures reflecting India’s soft-power outreach on a global stage.

Modi At SCO: The Man The World Trusts — PM Modi’s Diplomatic Sweep Across Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan & the SCO Summit 2026

Has Narendra Modi truly emerged as the world’s most trusted global negotiator? That’s the question at the heart of this special episode of The JC Show, as Dr. Jagdish Chandra breaks down Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s high-stakes diplomatic sweep — from Tashkent to the 26th SCO Summit in Bishkek — and what it reveals about India’s expanding role on the world stage.

The episode opens in Uzbekistan, where PM Modi’s arrival was marked by an unusual gesture — President Shavkat Mirziyoyev breaking protocol to personally receive him at Tashkent airport, before the two leaders rode together in a moment widely described as “car diplomacy.” During the visit, Uzbekistan conferred PM Modi with its highest civilian honour, the ‘Oliy Darajali Do’stlik’ — his 36th international honour, placing him ahead of global leaders including Putin, Xi Jinping, and Trump in this regard. The episode explores the significance of this unprecedented recognition, along with the substantive outcomes of PM Modi’s bilateral talks with President Mirziyoyev, including discussions on cross-border terrorism, the expansion of India’s UPI digital payments system into Uzbekistan, and 11 agreements covering Buddhist heritage conservation and scholarship programmes.

The conversation then moves to the main event — the 26th SCO Summit in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, where PM Modi’s speech drew attention from across the world. The episode examines the summit’s key agenda, PM Modi’s remarks on terrorism and West Asia, and the widely circulated photograph of PM Modi sharing a “powerful double handshake” with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin. Dr. Chandra also discusses reports that political observers view as a diplomatic win for India — the anti-terror declaration issued at SCO, adopted in the presence of Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, alongside PM Modi’s pointed remark that “terrorism can’t be a strategic asset.” The episode also covers the viral moment of PM Modi appearing to bypass Sharif during the SCO group photo, and the controversy around Pakistan’s cropped and later reposted photograph of the event.

Beyond the headline moments, the episode digs into the substance of PM Modi’s engagements — his bilateral meeting with President Putin covering the Russia-Ukraine war, defence cooperation, and the proposed S-400 ‘Sudarshan’ air defence system, as well as his 40-minute meeting with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian amid heightened West Asia tensions. The discussion also touches on India’s growing footprint in Central Asia, including new agreements with Kyrgyzstan, PM Modi’s participation in the 6th World Nomad Games opening ceremony, and a lighter, viral moment involving Belgium’s Prime Minister and a melted chocolate replica of India Gate.

The episode closes by connecting these developments to what lies ahead for India on the global stage — including the upcoming 18th BRICS Summit hosted by India — and reflects on how PM Modi continues to balance India’s ties with both the East and the West, engaging Russia and China even as India deepens its partnerships with Western nations.

Watch this special episode of The JC Show for a complete, in-depth analysis of PM Modi’s SCO Summit 2026 visit and what it signals about India’s rising role in global diplomacy.

A beauty pageant crown often tells only half the story. The other half — the struggles, the sacrifices, the unexpected turning points — rarely makes it to the stage. That’s exactly the gap The JC Show set out to close with its special episode, “Coffee. Crown. Conversation. — Where Queens Get Real,” bringing together the top 5 finalists of Miss Universe India 2026 for a candid, unscripted conversation with Dr. Jagdish Chandra, host Purnima, and pageant director Nikhil Anand.

Here’s a complete look at what the episode covers — the concept behind the title, the significance of Miss Universe India as a platform, and the individual journeys of the five young women who reached its biggest stage this year.

Watch the Full Episode

What Does “Coffee. Crown. Conversation.” Really Mean?

The episode opens with Purnima framing the larger purpose behind Miss Universe India and its connection to Bharat24’s own guiding philosophy — “Vision of New India.” As she puts it, Miss Universe India is far more than a crown; it’s a platform that gives young women across the country the confidence and opportunity to dream big and pursue their aspirations. Bharat24 has long positioned itself around promoting empowerment and amplifying the voices of a confident, new India — which made this collaboration a natural fit.

When asked what the show’s title itself signifies, Dr. Jagdish Chandra explains that the five finalists represent vastly different journeys, backgrounds, and aspirations. The JC Show’s format is designed to move past the glamour and understand the women behind the crowns — their dreams, ideas, achievements, and their individual vision for India. The title captures exactly that intent: an informal, coffee-table conversation rather than a scripted, stage-managed interview.

Understanding Miss Universe India: The Structure and the Scale

To set the context for viewers, Dr. Chandra turns to Nikhil Anand, who breaks down the structure of the competition — which finalist represents India at which international pageant, and what each of these platforms represents on the global stage. The conversation also touches on the sheer scale of pageantry’s reach: these competitions are watched by crores of people across India and the world, a figure that underscores just how significant a platform Miss Universe India has become for shaping public conversations around confidence, identity, and empowerment.

The Jaipur Finale: One Event, Five Different Memories

This year’s Miss Universe India 2026 grand finale was held in the Pink City, Jaipur — and the episode dedicates a segment to hearing how differently each participant experienced it. Dr. Jagdish Chandra shares his own perspective on the event, followed by Nikhil Anand, who explains why Jaipur was chosen as the host city and what it was like to stage such a large-scale event there. Each of the five finalists then shares her own strongest memory from the finale — kept deliberately crisp, personal, and spontaneous rather than rehearsed, giving viewers a genuine sense of what the night felt like from five very different vantage points.

The Journeys Behind the Crowns

The heart of the episode is its main segment — an extended, free-flowing conversation exploring the personal journeys of each finalist. Rather than five separate interviews, the format is built around natural cross-questioning between Purnima, Dr. Chandra, Nikhil Anand, and the finalists themselves, with follow-up questions probing deeper into challenges, emotional moments, and lessons learned along the way.

Kaziah Liz Mejo — Miss Universe India 2026

Hailing from Kerala, Kaziah Liz Mejo is a law student, a classically trained dancer of 13 years, and a rising name on both the national and international pageant circuit. Before claiming the top title this year, she was crowned Miss Teen International India 2024 and went on to finish as 1st Runner-Up at Miss Teen International 2025. Alongside pursuing her BA LLB (Honours), Kaziah is deeply invested in social causes — particularly sustainability in menstrual hygiene and addressing period poverty. With ambitions spanning law, film, and continued social work, she now sets her sights on becoming India’s next Miss Universe.

Vaishnavi Ganesh — 1st Runner-Up, Miss International India 2026

Born and raised in Bengaluru, Vaishnavi Ganesh brings an unusually diverse résumé to the pageant stage — academics, athletics, modelling, and now, pageantry’s top honours. An MBA graduate from BITS Pilani who also holds a degree in Social Work, she ranked first in her university and has won multiple gold medals as a competitive athlete, with interests spanning rock and wall climbing, skating, swimming, and weightlifting. Raised by her single mother, Vaishnavi credits that upbringing for the resilience and self-belief she now brings to her ambition: becoming the first Indian to win the Miss International crown.

Anushri Yatin Satavlekar — 2nd Runner-Up

With roots in Mumbai and Surat, Anushri Satavlekar brings a journalism and diplomacy background rarely seen on the pageant stage. A Gold Medalist in Journalism from the University of Mumbai — where she ranked first among students across 297 affiliated colleges — she went on to complete an M.A. in International Studies and Diplomacy from SOAS University of London. Her professional work spans modelling for global brands (including a Qatar Airways commercial alongside Emily Blunt) and strategic communications consulting for the Indian High Commission in the UK. Anushri hopes to expand her initiative, Project MIRA, into a platform promoting individuality and raising awareness around neurodivergence among girls.

Tejaswini Rajesh Anita Shrivastava — 3rd Runner-Up

Hailing from Nagpur, Tejaswini Shrivastava has built a strong presence in fashion and advertising, having worked with international brands including Charles & Keith, Dyson, Huda Beauty, and YAK, alongside campaigns for Samsung and Vogue. A Computer Applications graduate raised in a modest family — her father a property dealer, her mother a finance trainer — Tejaswini was previously the Miss Earth India Runner-up in 2023. She now looks to build a career in acting while pursuing her interest in cosmetology.

Anubha Vashisth — 4th Runner-Up

Coming from Dehradun, Anubha Vashisth stands out as an entrepreneur and certified makeup educator, running her own venture, Dubai Beauty School. Beyond her professional pursuits, she’s the founder of Project Devi, an initiative teaching makeup skills to underprivileged women to help them build independence and new livelihoods. Coming from an academic family — both her parents are professors — Anubha hopes to build a successful personal brand while staying rooted in purpose-driven work.

Why This Episode Matters

What sets this episode apart is its refusal to treat pageantry as just glamour and stagecraft. Each of these five women arrives with a distinct story — of academic achievement, of resilience through single-parent upbringing, of building businesses from scratch, of using a public platform for causes like menstrual health and neurodivergence awareness. The JC Show’s format — built on genuine follow-up questions rather than a fixed script — allows these layers to surface naturally, giving viewers a far more complete picture of who these young women are beyond the crown.

Watch the Full Episode

Bharat24 4th Anniversary Special: Dr. Jagdeesh Chandra on the Journey of Building a National News Channel

On the occasion of Bharat24’s 4th anniversary, The JC Show presents a special episode — “संकल्प से सिद्धि आखिर कैसे हकीकत में बदला नेशनल चैनल भारत 24 लाने का सपना” — featuring an exclusive, in-depth conversation with Dr. Jagdeesh Chandra, CEO and Editor-in-Chief of Bharat24. The episode was broadcast live from Bharat24’s Noida office, with the sister concern First India News team joining the celebrations virtually from Jaipur.

This anniversary episode traces the complete journey of Bharat24 — from the moment the idea first took shape during a visit to Srinagar, to its evolution into one of India’s most talked-about national news channels.
Dr. Jagdeesh Chandra
reflects candidly on his own remarkable career path: a 30-year tenure as an IAS officer, a gold medal in M.Com from the University of Rajasthan, top rank in the Rajasthan Administrative Services exam, and the decision to take voluntary retirement in 2008 to enter the media industry — a move that would eventually earn him the title of media’s “Turnaround Man.”

As Bharat24 marks four years on air, this special episode closes with Dr. Chandra’s reflections on what lies ahead — the channel’s next phase of growth in a media landscape increasingly shaped by digital platforms and artificial intelligence — along with a heartfelt message to the channel’s viewers, ground reporters, and editorial team who have powered this journey.

India’s education system has been at the center of a national storm in 2026. From the fallout of the NEET paper leak controversy to nationwide student protests led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), the crisis pushed the government into damage-control mode — and ultimately forced the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

For weeks, visuals of angry students at Jantar Mantar, hunger strikes, and heated Parliament sessions dominated news cycles. What began as anger over a leaked exam paper snowballed into one of the most closely watched political crises of the year — testing the government’s crisis management machinery and putting the spotlight squarely on Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In this episode of The JC Show, our panel of political analysts breaks down how PM Modi personally stepped in to manage the crisis, the political fallout of Pradhan’s exit, the role of the judiciary, and what all of this means heading into the 2026 state elections.

Watch the Full Episode

For the complete panel discussion — including PM Modi’s Instagram following, India’s foreign policy angle with Donald Trump, and more — watch the full episode of The JC Show: Crisis to Cure — Modi Delivers on our YouTube channel.

What Triggered the Student Protests?

The protests trace back to allegations of paper leaks in national-level competitive exams, echoing the 2026 NEET controversy that saw a major medical entrance examination cancelled and re-scheduled following a CBI investigation. Over 2.2 million students had appeared for the exam, and reports of a pre-circulated guess paper matching the actual questions sparked outrage across the country.

This wasn’t an isolated incident — it followed a pattern of exam irregularities that has plagued Indian competitive exams for years, from state-level recruitment tests to national entrance exams. But 2026 was different in scale. Anger over repeated paper leaks, the emotional weight of student suicides linked to exam pressure, and a perceived lack of accountability from testing agencies pushed thousands of Gen-Z students onto the streets.

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), founded by Abhijeet Deepke, quickly emerged as the political face of the movement, organizing sustained demonstrations and positioning itself as the voice of a generation frustrated with India’s exam culture. Notably, the panel discusses how many parents actively encouraged their children to join the protests in Delhi — a detail that underscores just how widespread the frustration with the exam system had become, cutting across generational lines.

PM Modi’s 6-Step Action Plan

According to the episode, the government’s response centered on six major steps, all rolled out in quick succession to regain control of the narrative:

National Exam Reform Task Force — a dedicated body constituted to overhaul how public exams are conducted, monitored, and secured going forward.

A tougher Anti-Paper Leak Law — enhancing the existing Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) framework with sharper legal teeth.

Strict penalties — up to 10 years in prison and fines of ₹10 crore for those found guilty of exam fraud, a significant escalation from earlier provisions.

Special Task Force and Fast-Track Courts — set up specifically to investigate and prosecute paper leak cases without the delays typical of India’s judicial process.

AI and digital malpractice accountability — new rules holding exam agencies directly responsible for tech-enabled cheating, an increasingly common method of exam fraud.

Direct public outreach — including a late-night selfie video from PM Modi that crossed 40 crore views, a moment the panel discusses at length as a case study in the PM’s signature direct-connect communication style.

The panel’s discussion goes beyond simply listing these measures — it examines whether this represents a genuine structural fix to a decades-old problem, or a politically timed response designed to defuse an escalating crisis before it caused lasting damage to the government’s image. The 40-crore-view selfie moment, in particular, is analyzed as part of a broader pattern of Modi using social media to build a direct emotional connection with the public during moments of crisis, bypassing traditional political messaging entirely.

Dharmendra Pradhan’s Resignation: What It Means

Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation became the single biggest flashpoint of the entire crisis. For days leading up to it, government sources reportedly held firm on not accepting his resignation — before an abrupt reversal saw it accepted, catching many observers off guard.

The panel debates whether this marks a genuine acceptance of ministerial accountability or a calculated political move to defuse public anger and give the protest movement a symbolic “win” without conceding any of the substantive demands. There’s also discussion of what comes next for Pradhan politically — drawing comparisons to previous Education Ministers like Smriti Irani, Prakash Javadekar, and Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, who also moved on from the portfolio under varying circumstances, and whether his exit signals the government’s first real “back foot” moment in this crisis.

Adding another layer to the story, the episode explores the timeline discrepancy — reports suggest BJP negotiators had floated the idea of simply reshuffling Pradhan’s ministry a day before his resignation, rather than accepting it outright, raising questions about how the final decision was actually made and by whom.

The RSS and Ideological Influence

One of the more intriguing threads the panel explores is the extent to which RSS ideologue Mohan Bhagwat’s views may have influenced the protesting students — and whether his position played any role in the government’s decision to ultimately accept Pradhan’s resignation. This ties into a broader conversation about how the Sangh Parivar’s ideological positioning intersects with day-to-day government crisis management.

Supreme Court’s Role: FIRs, Pellet Guns, and Police Conduct

As the protests intensified, the judiciary stepped in to draw clear lines around how the state could respond. The Supreme Court weighed in on the use of force against demonstrators, issuing directions on the use of pellet guns to disperse crowds and ordering a review of FIRs filed against protesters with criminal backgrounds.

Importantly, the Court also made clear that peaceful, non-criminal protesters should not face police action or lathi charges simply for participating in a demonstration — reinforcing the principle that agitation alone does not justify disproportionate force. The panel discusses the balance the Court is trying to strike: holding genuinely violent or criminal elements accountable, particularly those using obscene or defamatory language during protests, while protecting the constitutional right to peaceful protest for the vast majority of student demonstrators.

The Political Fallout

With Parliament passing the Anti-Paper Leak Bill amid a dramatic opposition walkout, the crisis has left a deep imprint on India’s political landscape. The episode also explores several other angles:

Bansuri Swaraj’s Parliament speech — the young MP’s articulate defense of the bill during debate drew comparisons to her mother, the late former External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, and is analyzed as a breakout political moment.

CJP’s political future — whether the protest movement formalizes into a full-fledged political party, and what that could mean for India’s youth-driven politics going forward.

Cabinet reshuffle speculation — including the appointment of Pralhad Joshi as the new Education Minister, and rumored (but unconfirmed) moves involving Devendra Fadnavis and Eknath Shinde.

Impact on state elections — with five states headed to the polls in the coming months, the panel weighs whether this crisis will actually move votes or fade from public memory, as past agitations often have.

Opposition dynamics — questions around Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi’s role in the protest narrative, differences within the INDIA bloc over how to handle the movement, and whether the crisis exposed cracks in opposition unity.

Delhi Police Commissioner’s exit — the sudden departure of Satish Golcha from the post, and what it signals about accountability within the security establishment.

Parliament logistics — Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla’s role in resolving a seven-day legislative deadlock caused by the crisis.

Beyond the Crisis: Foreign Policy and Broader Governance

The episode closes with a shift in focus to PM Modi’s broader public image, including the massive following he commands on Instagram, his diplomatic rapport with global leaders — including the much-discussed dynamic with Donald Trump — and how India’s domestic political crises intersect with its foreign policy positioning on the world stage. This ties the episode back to The JC Show’s core focus: understanding how domestic events shape, and are shaped by, India’s standing internationally.

Conclusion

The paper leak crisis of 2026 has turned into far more than an education controversy — it has become a test of the government’s crisis management, a flashpoint for Gen-Z political mobilization, and a preview of how youth-led movements like CJP could reshape India’s political landscape ahead of the upcoming state elections.

PM Modi’s six-step response, from the new Anti-Paper Leak Law to the National Exam Reform Task Force, signals an attempt to draw a firm line under the issue — but whether it addresses the root causes of India’s exam malpractice problem, or simply manages the political fallout, is a question that will likely play out over the coming months. Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation, the Supreme Court’s intervention on protest conduct, and the political maneuvering around the crisis all point to one thing: this story is far from over, and its ripple effects on India’s education policy and electoral politics are worth watching closely.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s state visit to Seychelles has pushed India-Seychelles relations into the spotlight — and into the top search trends across Google and YouTube. Between a historic civilian honour, a new maritime doctrine, and nineteen fresh agreements, this visit carries far more strategic weight than a routine diplomatic trip. Here’s a complete breakdown of what happened, why it matters, and what it signals for the wider Indian Ocean Region.

PM Modi Conferred with Seychelles’ Highest Civilian Honour: Guardian of the Blue Horizon

During his three-day state visit, PM Modi became the first-ever recipient of the ‘Guardian of the Blue Horizon’ — Seychelles’ highest civilian distinction, newly created and presented by President Dr. Patrick Herminie. The honour recognises PM Modi’s leadership in environmental conservation, sustainable development, and his long-standing push for climate action through initiatives like Mission LiFE, the International Solar Alliance, and the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure.

PM Modi dedicated the award to every nation fighting climate change, framing it as recognition not just of his own leadership but of India’s broader commitment to the Blue Economy and to the developmental aspirations of Small Island Developing States (SIDS) like Seychelles.

The timing is notable: the honour arrived during the Golden Jubilee celebrations of Seychelles’ National Day, and as both countries mark 50 years of diplomatic relations.

Watch the Full Episode

What Is the MAHASAGAR Doctrine?

The centerpiece of PM Modi’s Seychelles address was MAHASAGAR — short for Mutual And Holistic Advancement for Security And Growth Across Regions. First unveiled in March 2025, MAHASAGAR is an expansion of India’s earlier SAGAR doctrine (Security and Growth for All in the Region), broadening India’s maritime focus from the Indian Ocean alone to a wider, global outreach centered on the Global South.

In Seychelles, PM Modi described his vision in plain terms: partnerships should be built on mutual respect and trust rather than the size of a nation, and India intends to move forward with countries in the region rather than engaging them one at a time. He summed up the ambition with a memorable line — that the goal is to turn the Indian Ocean into an “Ocean of Opportunity.”

Seychelles’ position — a small island nation sitting along critical Sea Lines of Communication (SLOCs) in the Western Indian Ocean — makes it an important early test case for whether MAHASAGAR can deliver on that promise.

A Trust Built Over Decades: The 1986 Coup and “Operation Flowers Are Blooming”

Much of the goodwill on display during this visit traces back nearly four decades. In 1986, the Indian Navy stepped in to help thwart a mercenary coup attempt against Seychelles’ government under a mission informally known as “Operation Flowers Are Blooming.” That history of India acting as a security guarantor for Seychelles — without territorial ambition — is frequently cited as the foundation of the deep trust between the two nations, and it’s part of why India’s current MAHASAGAR outreach carries credibility across the wider Indian Ocean Region.

PM Modi Addresses the Seychelles National Assembly

PM Modi became the first Indian Prime Minister to address the National Assembly of Seychelles, using the platform to highlight shared democratic values, the rule of law, and people-centric governance. The address reinforced a message India has been building for years: that it sees itself as a security and development partner of choice for Small Island Developing States, rather than a purely transactional power.

19 Key Agreements Signed Between India and Seychelles

The visit produced roughly 19 agreements and MoUs spanning multiple sectors, including:

Implementation of UPI (Unified Payments Interface) in Seychelles, extending India’s digital public infrastructure abroad.

Cooperation under the Joint Vision for Sustainability, Economic Growth and Security through Enhanced Linkages (SESEL).

A Line of Credit worth roughly ₹1,250 crore, alongside the handover of a Fast Patrol Vessel to strengthen Seychelles’ maritime security capacity.

Expanded connectivity initiatives aimed at boosting trade and strengthening links with East Africa and the broader Indian Ocean region.

Together, these agreements touch defense, digital infrastructure, trade, and sustainable development — reflecting the multi-dimensional nature of MAHASAGAR rather than a narrow security-only partnership.

What Does This Mean for China?

Seychelles’ strategic location has long made it a point of interest for India, China, and the United States alike. PM Modi’s visit — and the accompanying maritime security cooperation — is widely read as a signal of India’s intent to remain the preferred security partner in the region, particularly around concerns like piracy, illegal fishing, and drug trafficking, as well as broader efforts to track vessel movements in the Indian Ocean. The visit reinforces India’s positioning as what analysts describe as the region’s “net security provider,” at a moment when competition for influence among SIDS nations continues to intensify.

A Human Moment: PM Modi and Jonathan, the World’s Oldest Tortoise

Amid the formal diplomacy, PM Modi also shared a widely covered lighter moment — feeding leaves to Jonathan, the 194-year-old giant tortoise resident at Seychelles’ State House, believed to be the world’s oldest living land animal. The moment underscored a softer, more personal side of the visit that resonated strongly with viewers back home.

Connecting with the Indian Diaspora

PM Modi also met members of the Indian community in Seychelles, a gesture that continues a now-familiar pattern of his foreign visits: strong outreach to the diaspora, and public expressions of pride and emotional connection from Indians living abroad. Interestingly, historical ties run deeper than many realise — Seychelles’ former president is reported to have ancestry tracing back to Bihar, a detail that adds a personal thread to the broader diplomatic relationship.

Why This Visit Matters?

Taken together, the Guardian of the Blue Horizon honour, the MAHASAGAR doctrine, the 19 agreements, and the historic address to Seychelles’ National Assembly mark one of the more substantive recent chapters in India-Seychelles relations. It reflects India’s ambition to position itself not just as a regional power but as a dependable partner for small island nations navigating security, climate, and economic challenges in an increasingly contested Indian Ocean.

For more on India’s evolving Indian Ocean strategy, the players shaping it, and what it means for India’s global standing, watch the full breakdown on this week’s episode of The JC Show.

Conclusion

India-Seychelles relations are entering a new phase of strategic partnership, shaped by a shared commitment to maritime security, sustainable development, and regional prosperity. Through Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s MAHASAGAR vision, India is strengthening its role as a trusted partner in the Indian Ocean while deepening its historic ties with Seychelles.

The honour of being recognised as a Guardian of the Blue Horizon reflects the growing importance of India’s contribution to protecting the region’s maritime future. As both nations look ahead, their partnership stands as a powerful example of how cooperation, mutual trust, and a shared vision can create a safer, stronger, and more sustainable Indian Ocean region.

When banners reading “Bonjour Modi” went up at Paris’s iconic Salle Pleyel, they captured more than just a warm welcome — they captured a week in which Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s presence dominated global headlines, from the G7 Summit in Evian to a tense handshake with Donald Trump, even as back home India’s political map shifted with a saffron wave in West Bengal. The JC Show breaks down every layer of this story — here’s the complete picture.

What Is “Bonjour Modi”? The Paris Diaspora Event Explained

“Bonjour Modi” was the community programme organised in honour of PM Narendra Modi at Salle Pleyel, Paris, on the final leg of his France visit. Thousands from the Indian diaspora — Tamils, Punjabis, Gujaratis, Marathis and Bengalis alike — gathered to chants of “Modi, Modi” and “Bharat Mata Ki Jai,” with Rajasthan’s Dhoad Band adding a cultural flourish to the evening.

In his address, PM Modi struck a reflective, almost philosophical tone: he said the world is moving toward a partnership model where trust matters as much as trade, and that India is emerging as that trusted partner for the world. He also spoke about 25 crore Indians being lifted out of poverty over the last 12 years, and connected the diaspora’s role directly to India’s growing innovation and trade ties with France.

For the complete analysis and the panel, watch the full episode of The JC Show — Bonjour Modi

PM Modi at the G7 Summit: India’s Outsized Presence Without a Seat at the Table

One of the most talked-about threads this week is a simple but pointed question: how does India — not a permanent G7 member — end up commanding centre stage at the summit anyway? At the G7 in Evian, PM Modi engaged directly with world leaders on AI governance, the Global South, and rebuilding international trust, reinforcing India’s position as an indispensable voice in conversations the G7 itself cannot resolve without it.

This is also where PM Modi met Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on the sidelines, and where his now widely-quoted line landed: the world suffers from a shortage of trust, and that trust in international law must be rebuilt.

Macron’s Unusual Welcome and the India-France Strategic Roadmap

French President Emmanuel Macron’s reception of PM Modi went beyond standard diplomatic protocol — a detail that’s fuelled plenty of conversation about what it is in Modi’s global standing that prompts world leaders to step outside convention for him.

Behind the optics, the substance was just as significant:

India-France Innovation Roadmap 2030

The two countries formalised an Innovation Roadmap 2030, deepening what is now described as a Special Global Strategic Partnership spanning defence, technology, space, and nuclear energy.

The Jaitapur Nuclear Power Plant Project

Talks around the Jaitapur Nuclear Power Plant resurfaced as a cornerstone of India-France energy cooperation — a project that has long symbolised the depth of bilateral trust between the two nations on critical infrastructure.

UPI Goes Live at the Eiffel Tower

In a moment that’s already gone viral, India’s UPI payment system went live at the Eiffel Tower, marking yet another milestone in India’s digital diplomacy and soft-power expansion across Europe.

PM Modi also offered a striking redefinition of a familiar term, telling the gathering that “AI means All Inclusive” — a line meant to reframe artificial intelligence away from pure technology talk and toward equitable global access.

Slovakia Leg: A Civilisational Welcome and a Top Honour

Before Paris, PM Modi’s European leg included Slovakia, where he was welcomed with the traditional salt-and-bread (namak-roti) ceremony and conferred the country’s highest civilian honour — the 33rd international honour of his tenure. Bilateral agreements signed during this leg are expected to widen trade and people-to-people ties between the two countries.

Modi-Trump Meeting: “A Handshake, Not a Hug”

Perhaps the most-searched storyline of the week: PM Modi and US President Donald Trump met for the first time in 16 months, and the optics were impossible to ignore. One international headline summed it up bluntly — a handshake, not a hug — sparking widespread debate over what’s changed in the Trump-Modi equation, and why Trump’s public and personal posture toward India’s PM seems to have shifted.

The G7 stage added more fuel: Trump’s blunt declaration of “I am the BOSS,” his comments seen as sowing discord within NATO, his public friction with Italian PM Giorgia Meloni, and his claim that any attack on India during Modi’s tenure would see America stand with India — an announcement many political observers flagged as unusually out of turn and out of context for a multilateral summit.

Hormuz Strait Crisis and the US-Iran Deal: What’s Really at Stake

Running parallel to the diplomacy is a tense security and energy story: the Strait of Hormuz crisis. Despite an announced US-Iran peace framework, Iran has repeatedly shut the strait to shipping following Israeli strikes in Lebanon, raising urgent questions about:

Whether a toll tax on ships transiting Hormuz will be implemented

The real future of the US-Iran deal and the so-called Islamabad memorandum

Whether Israel-Hezbollah ceasefire terms can hold under continued strikes

Who ultimately bears the cost of any extended US-Iran conflict — with concerns that Global South nations may be left to absorb the economic fallout

This is also where pending India-US trade deal talks and the EU-UK free trade agreements come into the picture, as global supply chains recalibrate around the uncertainty.

Back Home: West Bengal’s Saffron Wave and Maharashtra’s Political Storm

While the world watched Paris and Evian, India’s domestic political map was being redrawn:

West Bengal: PM Modi’s first visit to Kolkata after the BJP’s state win drew an overwhelming public response, with Modi declaring that “West Bengal is turning the page after decades of misrule.” His remarks also revisited the historical attempt to make Bengal part of Pakistan, reigniting a charged conversation about the state’s identity and political future — including renewed questions over Mamata Banerjee’s political road ahead.

Maharashtra: A separate political storm has been brewing, with a sharp war of words between Sanjay Raut and Eknath Shinde, reports of Uddhav Sena MPs defecting toward Shinde, and fresh turbulence in the TMC-Shiv Sena equation that has put Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla’s role under the spotlight.

Why This Week Matters?

Taken together, this week is a study in contrasts: India asserting outsized global influence at forums it doesn’t formally sit on, a US relationship that’s visibly recalibrating in real time, a security crisis in the Gulf with no clean resolution in sight, and a domestic political landscape shifting fast in both West Bengal and Maharashtra. The JC Show brings you the full, no-holds-barred breakdown of every one of these threads — because understanding one without the others means missing the bigger picture.

Conclusion: India at the Centre of a Changing World

From the warmth of “Bonjour Modi” in Paris to the high-stakes conversations at the G7, PM Narendra Modi’s latest diplomatic journey reflects a broader shift in India’s place on the global stage. Whether it was strengthening strategic ties with France, engaging with world leaders, navigating the evolving US relationship, or speaking for the concerns of the Global South, India’s voice continues to carry growing weight in international affairs.

At the same time, the Modi-Trump equation, the uncertainty surrounding global conflicts and energy security, and the rapidly changing political dynamics within India demonstrate how closely domestic politics and global diplomacy are now intertwined. The developments in West Bengal and Maharashtra add another layer to a week that has been anything but ordinary.

The bigger question is not simply what happened this week, but what these developments signal for India’s future. Is India entering a new phase of global influence? How will its relationships with the US, France, Europe and the Global South evolve? And what will these international shifts mean for India’s domestic political landscape?

These are the questions that The JC Show continues to explore — connecting the headlines, examining the power dynamics, and going beyond the surface to understand the bigger picture shaping India and the world.
